Potential roadmap has been described by Andrew about two years ago – in which he said that they are going to have the metadata terms at the core of WordPress. Even though these changes have occurred, but there were no guarantees that the metadata terms are added to the core.

Fortunately, this function is yet to receive the green light – so we can wait for the metadata terms that are already in WordPress 4.4.
